TONY
WILSON
What
if you find yourself saying "Michael Jackson? I like him, but he
doesn’t have enough soul." Does your mind wander off in the
middle of the day consumed with thoughts as "James Brown? Yeah, he’s
good...if only he’d grab his crotch." Then today is your day
as the king of pop and the godfather of soul meet, date for about a year,
move in together, get married, buy a house and give birth to Tony Wilson.
This Chicago native has gained international recognition
throughout the 90s. He starred in "Black Heroes in the Hall of Fame",
a Broadway hit musical featuring a cast of 60 performers. The play has
been seen by more than a million audiences and has also toured originally
in England, along with two American tours in 1991 and 1994 that covered
over 120 cities throughout the United States. Tony's performance was a
live vocal and dance tribute to the Godfather of Soul, James Brown and
the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Others included Stevie Wonder and other
Motown greats.
Later that same year, Tony toured the West Indies and was a big part of
the biggest musical concert on the island of St. Lucia where he performed
his "Tribute to the Godfather, James Brown" for the Belgrade
Awards. Tony also landed a spot on "The Oprah Winfrey Show"
and made his debut on the ever popular syndicated TV program, "It's
Showtime at the Apollo" in New York. It was there that his act had
the entire audience rise to their feet and applauded within seconds of
his performance in such a way that the Master of Ceremonies could hardly
introduce the next act due to the standing ovation from the crowd.
The millennium started with a New Year's bang when
Tony had landed several concerts in Las Vegas. In addition, Tony was selected
from out of fifteen hundred other entertainers/actors to portray a young
James Brown in a feature film project with Microsoft founders Paul Allen
and Bill Gates as Executive Producers entitled "Funk Blast".
The movie was shot in L.A. with an extra cast of five hundred. Tony was
given the lead role of a young James Brown, allowing him to showcase his
moves (video available). "Funk Blast" included such Funk and
Soul icons as Chaka Khan, The Gap Band, George Clinton and the P-Funk
Band, Sly Stone, Dr. John, Herbie Hancock, William "Bootsy"
Collins, the original members of the James Brown Band (Maceo Parker, Fred
Wesley, "Sweet" Charles Sherrell), Marcus Miller, and even the
Godfather of Soul himself...Mr. James Brown.
Tony was chosen among thousands of contestants to appear on the nationally
syndicated television show "Your Big Break", hosted by Alfonso
Ribiero. He got the chance of performing live as James Brown in full makeup
and costume in front of a nationwide television audience. The response
was phenomenal!
Recently Tony was highly recommended by James Brown himself to portray
him in the new 2004 BMW short film movie “Entitled Beat The Devil”,
Tony’s role was young James Brown. Directed by Tony Scott and Ridley
Scott and JULES DALY. Some of the Scott brothers films include: Top Gun,
Beverly Hill Cops 2, The Fan, Enemy of the State, Gladiator, Blade Runner,
Hannibal, GI Jane and Beat the Devil.
The Tony Wilson Show is a high energy show that has to be seen, along
with his band. Tony is an exceptionally gifted entertainer who can sing
and dance in the most electrifying, unimaginable way. Without missing
a beat, this guy does flying flip splits, spins like a top, and his own
signature move..."moonwalking" on his head!
Tony has opened for such celebrities including:
