I met Ivo de Carvalho in Brazil many years ago. He is a great friend, an amazing musician,

and a perfect partner to form “Atlantico2”. Five years ago, when we first played together,

we felt artistically in love with the music we were doing.

Ivo is one of the best Brazilian guitar players that I have ever met.

Not only because of his incredible work with many famous artists,

but also for his ideas and life perception.

The idea for this new project -“Atlantico2” is to mix, the complexity of the American jazz, t

he Bossa Nova, Samba and the rich variety of Brazilian and Latin rhythms,

and also the simplicity of the British pop music in a way, that everyone will understand and appreciate.

Since the Bossa Nova was born it has been the “ambassador music” of Brazil.

It has been played around the world, and still growing!!! Bossa Nova is an amazing fusion of jazz harmonies and

Brazilian rhythms that results in an incredible and original “ginga” (swing).

The lyrics are also amazing. It tell us stories of love, passion, beach scenario and

“saudade – which is a Brazilian word for missing someone or something.

Then, came the time to name the project. I knew that I needed to find

a nice and simple title that could connect both cultures together and at the same time,

translate all my inner feelings.

So, I came up with something that has been always close to my heart and soul – the ocean.
